WHAT SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY SAY ABOUT HUMAN PERCEPTION OF ART?

Online discussion, Part of the public program “New Spirituality”,
Future Generation Art Prize, 2021.

Every year brings new research and technologies that bring us closer to understanding how the brain works and the processes of human perception. These studies can deepen our understanding of art and provide insight into how art helps scientists unravel the mysteries of human nature. Together with experts in the fields of neurobiology, art history, psychology, and artificial intelligence, we will discuss whether the process of analyzing art can be automated, what unique experiences individuals gain from observing works of art, and whether we can live without such experiences. We will also try to understand where the boundaries of subjective perception and understanding lie, and where biologically determined reactions to visual stimuli, common to all people, occur.
